The vivo S50 was announced on December 15, 2025 in four colors and four memory configurations. Compared to the vivo S50 Pro mini, this model is larger, heavier, and has a weaker chipset. So, are you ready to take a closer look at this phone?
Design
Colors, Size and Build

The available vivo S50 colors are Black, White, Blue, and Purple. But you should know that each color has a different weight and thickness.

vivo absolutely nailed the craftsmanship here, especially with the aerospace-grade aluminum frame that’s been CNC-milled. It’s thin, too: the black and purple versions are a slender 7.49mm thick and just 196g. But if you go for white or blue, you’re looking at 7.59mm and a negligible extra gram.

The sandblasted finish is a genius move, as it actually resists fingerprints, which is a massive win. And yes, it’s practically invincible against the elements, boasting an IP69 and IP68 rating.
That Floating Camera Look

You can’t talk about the design without mentioning the camera array. vivo calls it the aviation-grade aluminum floating mirror assembly, and I get why. It’s polished with a jewelry-grade chamfer that makes the module look like it’s hovering above the back panel. It’s small, exquisite, and adds a real sense of high-end jewelry to an otherwise practical piece of tech.
Camera
Triple Main Camera Specs

The camera setup is where the vivo S50 really stops being just a phone and starts being a serious creative tool. vivo chose capable glass and sensors rather than just throwing specs at the array.

The main camera is the backbone of your photography, built around a powerful 50MP Sony LYT-700V sensor (1/1.56″). It features a fast f/1.88 aperture and rock-solid OIS (CIPA 4.5 Pro-Grade) stabilization. This primary lens also enables great 2x lossless zoom photos.

For distance and portraits, the periscope telephoto lens stands out. It uses a 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor (1/1.95″) and offers true 3x optical zoom, which is fantastic for clear portrait shots. Essential for those long shots, it also features OIS (CIPA 4.0 Pro-Grade). While it boasts an impressive 100x Zoom capability, the 6x Lossless zoom remains the practical sweet spot for clarity.
The ultra-wide lens captures a 110˚ field of view. While a standard 8MP unit, vivo managed to keep the distortion low, making it genuinely usable for architectural and landscape photography.
50MP Front Camera

Up front, the front camera focuses on your selfies with a high-resolution 50MP wide lens, complete with autofocus and 92° tracking focus for consistently sharp results.
Video: Where the Magic Happens

Forget shaky footage. The stabilization here is stellar, supporting 4K and 1080P across the board. The Live Mode is a sleeper hit, especially the 4K frame rate enhancement across all main lenses. My favorite detail? The ability to shoot 4K video and extract the “golden 3.9s” into a pristine 4K/30fps Live clip for social media… that’s smart.
Portrait and Audio Enhancements

The 3x golden telephoto lens isn’t just for distance, it’s calibrated perfectly for atmospheric, clear portraits. I was relieved to see the clear and natural portrait mode avoid that heavy “beauty filter” look. It enhances detail without making everyone look plasticky.

Also, the flagship-level three-microphone recording system is a godsend for capturing clean stereo audio, especially in noisy horizontal videos.
Performance
Chipset and Processing

The brain of the vivo S50 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip, built on the 4nm process, paired with the powerful Adreno 735 GPU. This is weaker than the chipset in the vivo S50 Pro mini.
But compared to previous generations, the jumps are ridiculous: 57% better CPU and a jaw-dropping 109% better GPU. The 2 million+ benchmark score isn’t just a number, it’s the feeling of never hitting a roadblock, no matter what app I threw at it.
RAM and Storage Options

The vivo S50 doesn’t wait around. It uses lightning-fast four-channel LPDDR5X RAM paired with UFS 4.1 storage. The sequential read speed improvement is around 300%. That’s why apps load instantly. You can choose from 12GB or 16GB RAM and 256GB or 512GB storage.
Keeping Cool Under Pressure

All that power needs to be managed, which is why the VC liquid cooling is essential. The huge 4200mm² vapor chamber and high-performance graphite keep the thermal throttling minimal. This means peak gaming sessions stay peak.
Display
Size, Resolution, and Fluidity

You get a 6.59-inch AMOLED screen with very thin bezels, which gives you a screen-to-body ratio of 94.70%. The 1.5K Ultra HD resolution (2750 × 1260) is sharp, and the peak brightness of 5000 nits provides exceptional visual output, making outdoor viewing effortless. And with a 120Hz refresh rate, scrolling and animations are buttery smooth.
Eye Comfort

If you spend hours staring at your phone, the focus on eye health is welcome. The up to 4320Hz flicker-free PWM dimming is a huge win for anyone sensitive to flicker.
Plus, the 1nit ultra-low brightness screen means you won’t blind yourself checking the time in the middle of the night. The AI features, like Anti-Fatigue Brightness Adjustment 2.0, are clever little touches that genuinely improve the long-term viewing experience.
Battery
Capacity and Endurance

The vivo S50’s 6500mAh battery, combined with third-generation silicon anode technology, gives you serious endurance. You can enjoy almost 19 hours of continuous short videos, and get over 9 hours of intense MOBA gaming, demonstrating its outstanding endurance.
Charging Speed

Charging is thankfully just as fast with 90W wired flash charging. Even better, this battery is built for harsh environments; it maintains stable discharge even at a freezing -20°C. That’s peace of mind if you live somewhere cold.
Connectivity
Never Lose the Signal

They have equipped the vivo S50 with a highly advanced signal management system they call Global Smart Communication 2.0. This system is complex, but its goal is simple: vastly better signal strength and reliability.
They put in the industry’s first Ultra Low-Frequency Antenna for a 145% performance boost and surrounded it with 21 antennas. The result? Less buffering and dropped connections, even when you’re flying on a high-speed train.
Network Intelligence and Standards

The AI Esports Signal Engine 2.0 manages network switching so fast you won’t notice it. But the real surprise is the Kilometer-Level Wireless Communication via Bluetooth. It’s essentially an SOS text broadcasting or one-to-one voice link when you have no cellular signal at all. Extremely niche, but potentially lifesaving.

You get the standards, of course: 5G, Dual Nano-SIM, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.4.
Software and Features
OriginOS 6 and Performance Guarantee

The new OriginOS 6 based on Android 16 is completely redesigned, and it’s fast, really fast. vivo is confidently promising 5 years of smooth performance, thanks to their Blue River Smooth Engine which handles everything from storage optimization to virtual graphics.
Ecosystem and Security
I love that they baked in ecosystem interconnection, the ability to mirror calls/texts from an iPhone or manage files on an iPad/PC is a game-changer for cross-platform users.

Security is also top-tier with the second-generation 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor 2.0. It’s positioned higher for natural reach and is incredibly fast (0.1s recognition time). Best of all, it works perfectly even if your fingers are wet or oily.
The Little Things That Count

They loaded the vivo S50 with quality components, like the satisfying X-axis linear motor for haptics and loud stereo dual speakers.

The full-featured NFC and infrared remote control are handy for daily life. And the system assistants, from Little V Search 2.0 to the real-time audio transcription, are useful tools that keep the software feeling smart and helpful, not intrusive.
In the Box: What You Get

You get everything you need right out of the box, something we don’t see very often with smartphones these days. Inside, you’ll find the vivo S50, charger, Type-C cable, SIM ejector tool, phone case, screen protector, and the quick start guide.
