vivo S50 Pro Mini: My First Look Review

vivo S50 Pro Mini: My First Look Review

The vivo S50 Pro Mini with a 6.31-inch display is specifically designed for people like me, those who want a more compact and handy phone without sacrificing flagship specs. If you share this preference, add this to your list of phones to consider before buying.

vivo S50 Pro Mini

When I compared it to the standard vivo S50, I noticed the Pro model has a much more powerful chipset and a lighter body. What I like most is the smaller screen size; it allows for one handed use and fits much more easily in your pocket.

vivo released the S50 Pro Mini today, December 19, 2025 in three colors and three storage options. I’m going to review all its specs and performance details with you to see if this compact flagship is truly worth your money.

Design

Colors and Build Quality

vivo S50 Pro Mini colors black, white, and purple.

You can buy the vivo S50 Pro Mini in three colors: black, white, and purple. But before you buy, you should know that each color has a different thickness and weight.

vivo S50 Pro Mini is built with aerospace-grade aluminum using a CNC unibody process that feels incredibly solid

The first thing you notice is the design of the S50 Pro mini white. It’s built with aerospace-grade aluminum using a CNC unibody process that feels incredibly solid. The back is wrapped in this satin-finish soft-light glass, they use something called satin lithography, which gives it an almost ethereal look that changes with the light.

vivo S50 Pro Mini dimensions 150.83 x 71.76mm

With dimensions of 150.83 x 71.76mm, it’s perfect for one-handed use. I noticed the black and purple models are 7.99mm thick and weigh 191g, while the white model is only slightly thicker and heavier at 8.10mm and 192g. The glossy bevel on the “floating mirror set” gives it a really premium, polished edge.

The Iconic Camera Bar

vivo S50 Pro Mini Iconic Camera Bar

Unlike most of today’s phones that stick to those huge circular modules or corner squares, just like what we see on the standard vivo S50, the S50 Pro mini goes for a ‘Camera Bar’ style. It reminds me a lot of the Google Pixel 10 Pro or iPhone Air. One thing I love about this design is that it actually stays steady and doesn’t wobble when placed on a flat surface.

Also, that horizontal bar gives the phone a sense of balance and makes it feel a bit wider. For a mini version that’s naturally quite narrow, this is a clever design move to make the device appear broader and more substantial.

Durability and Security

vivo S50 Pro Mini Durability with IP68 and IP69 ratings

This phone is built like a mini tank, which is great for peace of mind. With IP68 and IP69, you can totally relax, dust and water aren’t gonna do a thing to it.

vivo S50 Pro Mini Security with Ultrasonic Fingerprint 2.0 sensor

For security, the Ultrasonic Fingerprint 2.0 sensor is a lifesaver; it’s basically instant (0.1s) and actually works if your fingers are wet or a bit oily. Honestly, it’s so much better than the cheap optical ones in most phones.

Performance

Chipset and Memory

vivo S50 Pro Mini powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset.

Under the hood, the vivo S50 Pro Mini is rocking the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip. This 3nm monster just smashed a score of 3,315,644 on AnTuTu! Paired with the Adreno 829 GPU and up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM (plus 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage), you’ll have a hard time finding anything that can actually slow this thing down.

Gaming and Cooling

vivo S50 Pro Mini Gaming and Cooling System

It stays super stable while you’re gaming. It holds a steady 120 FPS in MOBAs like it’s nothing. That’s mostly thanks to the massive 4005mm² VC liquid cooling and high-performance graphite inside, which keeps the heat away from your hands.

Camera

Triple Lens Rear Imaging Array

vivo S50 Pro Mini Camera Triple Lens Rear Imaging Array

This camera setup isn’t just for show. The 50MP Sony IMX921 main sensor with OIS handles low light like a pro.

vivo S50 Pro Mini camera zoom

But for me, the real star of the vivo S50 Pro Mini’s camera is the 50MP Sony IMX882 periscope telephoto lens; it gives you 3x optical zoom and can technically push all the way to 100x digital. There’s also an 8MP ultrawide if you need to squeeze more into the frame.

Video Recording and Front Camera

vivo S50 Pro Mini 4K Video Recording

If you’re into content creation, you’re gonna love this. You’ll dig the 4K recording on both sides and the Hitchcock-style cinematic modes.

vivo S50 Pro Mini 50MP Front Camera

UP front, the 50MP wide selfie cam has autofocus and a 3.9s Live Photo mode at 30fps.

The vivo S50 Pro Mini’s screen is a 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution and 460 PPI. It’s got a super smooth 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and hits a crazy 5000 nits peak brightness, so it’s bright as day, but still looks out for your eyes with 4320Hz dimming.

Sound

vivo S50 Pro Mini Sound: Stereo Dual Speakers

The stereo dual speakers sound great, and the three-mic array does a solid job at noise reduction during your calls.

When you’re running low, the 90W fast charging gets you back in the game in no time. It also supports 40W wireless charging and reverse OTG, so you can basically use your phone as a power bank to juice up your earbuds when you’re in a pinch.

Connectivity

Network and Signal

Signal issues? Not on the vivo S50 Pro Mini. With dual Nano-SIM capability, 22 antennas for 360° coverage, Wi-Fi 7, and 5G, you’re always connected. The best part is the emergency feature: it has long-range wireless that works for kilometers, so you can call or text for help even without a mobile network.

Ports and NFC

The USB 3.2 Gen1 port is super fast (10Gbps), so it’s perfect for moving big video files around. It’s also got full-feature NFC for payments and even an IR blaster, so you can control your home appliances right from your phone.

Software and Features

OS and Longevity

The vivo S50 Pro Mini runs on OriginOS 6 (based on Android 16), and thanks to the Blue River Smooth Engine, it’s guaranteed to stay buttery smooth for five years. Plus, it’s got a custom X-axis linear motor for some really precise haptic feedback.

Integration with the Apple world

vivo S50 Pro Mini Integrates with the Apple world

One of the coolest things is how well it works with the Apple ecosystem. You can share files and sync notifications with iOS devices without any hassle. You don’t usually see this level of cross-platform support, so it’s a big deal.

In the Box: What You Get

vivo S50 Pro Mini Box Contents

Everything is included right in the box, something I don’t see much with phones anymore. You’re getting the vivo S50 Pro Mini, charger, USB-C cable, SIM ejector tool, phone case, screen protector, and quick guide.
