I was looking at the specifications of the Huawei Mate 80 RS Ultimate when I noticed that it has a clearer camera, larger battery, more powerful chipset, and a brighter display compared to its predecessor.
Released on November 26, 2025, you can get this flagship in three stunning colors and two different memory configurations.

But is all this hardware really worth the price tag? Today, I’m going to review all the specs and performance of the Mate 80 RS Ultimate to help you decide if this is the luxury phone you should be buying.
Design
Build Materials, Size and Colors

Honestly, holding this phone is an experience. It’s not just ‘metal’; it features a high-gloss titanium basalt body seated in a titanium frame. The size is substantial: 164.4mm long, 79mm wide, and 8.25mm thick, and it weighs 249g. This phone 2g lighter than its predecessor, but it’s still heavy.

You can get the Huawei Mate 80 RS Ultimate in three colors: Purple, Black, and White.
Durability and Protection

When it comes to protection, they didn’t hold back. The front is secured by third-generation tempered Kunlun glass, and the back gets the second-generation Kunlun glass treatment, it truly feels bomb-proof.
Plus, you get both an IP68 rating (meaning it can survive up to 6 meters underwater) and the overkill IP69 rating (resistance to high-pressure, high-temp water jets). You really don’t have to baby this thing.
Camera
Rear Camera System

Huawei is renowned for its photography, and the second-generation red maple original color camera lives up to the hype. The Mate 80 RS Ultimate’s camera is built to capture the true colors, and the results are stunningly accurate. The massive setup includes an ultra-high dynamic range main camera supported by three equally serious lenses:
- 50MP Wide Main: With a variable F1.4-F4.0 aperture, plus PDAF and OIS.
- 50MP Periscope Telephoto: F2.1 aperture, OIS (a great 90.5mm focal length).
- 50MP Periscope Telephoto: F3.2 aperture, OIS (pushing further to 140mm).
- 40MP Ultra-Wide: F2.2 aperture, with a wide 120˚ FOV.
Front Camera

The selfie experience on the Mate 80 RS Ultimate is just as premium as the rear setup. It features a high-resolution 40MP front camera (ultrawide) with an F2.2 aperture. It’s not just a fixed-focus lens; it includes autofocus, ensuring sharp focus whether you’re taking a quick solo shot or a group selfie.
Furthermore, the front camera benefits from the dedicated 3D ToF sensor located next to it. This combination provides incredibly accurate depth mapping for professional-grade portrait mode bokeh and ensures sharp focus even when shooting group selfies. It supports video recording up to 4K resolution, making it perfect for high-quality vlogging and content creation.
Zoom and Video Recording

The zoom is insane. While the 4x and 6.2x optical zooms are excellent, the 12.4x optical quality zoom is where the magic happens for distance shots. If you absolutely need to see the moon, the maximum 100x digital zoom is there, although I recommend keeping it lower for usable shots. Maximum photo quality hits 8192 × 6144 pixels, and video caps out at smooth 4K.
Performance
Chipset and Speed

The core of the Huawei Mate 80 RS Ultimate is the Kirin 9030 Pro chip, built on a 6nm process. This chipset features a 9-core CPU and the powerful Maleoon 935 GPU. While the marketing claims a ridiculous 645% overall performance improvement, what I really notice is the sheer speed and fluidity.
RAM and Storage

The memory is almost comical, you get 20GB RAM in either the 512GB or 1TB storage versions. Twenty gigabytes! It’s absolute overkill, but I’m certainly not complaining about having zero lag. Just be aware that you can’t use MicroSD cards, so pick your storage wisely.
Battery
Capacity and Charging Speed

With a battery this large, you expect endurance, and the Huawei Mate 80 RS Ultimate’s 6000mAh battery delivers.
When you need a recharge, it’s lightning fast. The wired charging hits a max of 100W SuperCharge, getting you back to 100% in a flash. Wireless charging is equally impressive at 80W Huawei Wireless SuperCharge. And yes, you can use the 18W wired reverse charging (and wireless reverse charging) to top up your earbuds or watch, which is always a handy feature.
Display and Audio
Display Specifications

The Mate 80 RS Ultimate display is a major highlight: a stunning 6.9-inch Dual-layer OLED panel. Highlights include an insane 8000 nits peak brightness, a buttery-smooth 1-120 Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate, and a responsive 300 Hz touch sampling rate.
Sound Quality

The audio is dubbed “magnificent sound,” and it holds up. The dual-diaphragm stereo unit delivers fantastic clarity. The bass has a real punch, and the treble is crystal clear, making for a truly immersive audio experience, whether you’re watching a movie or playing a game.
Connectivity and Security
Keeping You Connected

Connectivity is good with 5G and Wi-Fi 7. You get a versatile dual-SIM tray (supporting Nano-SIM + Nano-SIM) alongside eSIM support, allowing for flexible connectivity and up to two active lines. The charging port is a USB Type-C (USB 3.1 Gen 1), plus Bluetooth 6.0 and NFC.
Satellite Features

For the adventurers, this phone is designed to keep you online no matter where you are. It includes Tiantong satellite communication and Beidou satellite messaging, ensuring you’re constantly online. Add in dual eSIM support and the new outdoor exploration mode, and you’re set for anything.
Security and Privacy

The 3D ToF facial recognition isn’t just quick; it has financial-grade security authentication for payments. You also get a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. For peace of mind during sensitive calls, the triple diaphragm sound leakage prevention and intelligent sound field control work surprisingly well to keep your conversations private.
Operating System

The Huawei Mate 80 RS Ultimate is optimized with the all-new HarmonyOS 6.0 operating system. Huawei promises it will “unleash its full potential,” and honestly, the system is clean, fast, and highly customizable, it truly does offer a better experience than the previous version.
In the Box: What You Get

You get everything you need right away, which is rare these days. In the box, you get the Mate 80 RS Ultimate, charger, Type-C cable, SIM ejector pin, phone case, screen protector (pre-applied), and quick guide.
