If you’re looking for a phone with a massive 6500mAh battery that holds a charge for a long time, along with a big screen and a 50MP main camera that takes awesome photos for social media, then stick with me until the end because we’re going to review Tecno’s newest phone, the Spark 50! Plus, with the Dimensity 6400 5G+ chipset, the speed and app performance are just incredible. Let’s find out if it’s actually worth buying.
Design & Build Quality
First off, you can get the Tecno Spark 50 in five different colors. You’ve got the flashy ones like Fantasy Purple, Mint Green, and Champagne Gold, all the way to Titanium Grey and Ink Black if you’re going for a more serious, professional vibe.
At 8.2mm thick and weighing 210g, it has some real heft to it. It feels like a serious tool rather than a plastic toy, though your pinky finger might want a gym membership after holding it for an hour.
That design isn’t just for looks, though. This thing actually comes with a military-grade drop resistance certification. Now, I wouldn’t recommend using it as a hockey puck or smashing it into a brick wall just to impress your friends, but it’s totally built to survive those “oh no!” moments when it slips right out of your hands.
The Spark 50 also holds an IP64 rating, which is awesome for keeping the dust out. Even though it handles water splashes like a champ, definitely don’t go trying to take underwater selfies in the pool! One cool feature is that the touchscreen works perfectly even if your hands are wet or greasy. It’s so handy for those times you’re snacking or just stepped out of the rain and need to shoot off a quick text without the screen acting all crazy.
This phone is a dual-SIM phone that uses nano-SIMs. For security, it’s got a fingerprint sensor on the side.
Battery & Charging
One of the biggest reasons to buy the Tecno Spark 50 is its massive 6500mAh battery. Most phones max out at 5000, so this thing is a total mini monster (since a phone like the Honor Power 2 with a 10080mAh battery is the real monster).
You can easily get around 15 hours of YouTube watching or play PUBG straight for about 9 hours. What’s even crazier is that Tecno claims the battery health will stay above 80% for 6 whole years. That’s a seriously long time for a smartphone.
When it finally does run out of charge, the 45W super charger does a pretty solid job. It’ll take the phone from zero to hero in just about an hour. It isn’t the fastest charging out there, but considering how huge the battery is, it actually performs really well.
Performance
Under the hood, the Tecno Spark 50 uses the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 5G+ chip. It’s super snappy and handles everyday tasks and medium gaming, pulling in a score of over 450K on the AnTuTu benchmark.
The phone supports 5G, and since it’s equipped with Carrier Aggregation tech, the 5G signal is actually twice as fast as standard modes. Now let’s talk about the RAM situation, because it can be a little bit confusing.
You can get versions of the Spark 50 with up to 256GB storage and 24GB RAM, but just keep in mind that 16GB of that is actually extended RAM, which uses your storage space to help with multitasking. Even so, the performance is still incredibly fast, and if you’re looking to save some cash, you can easily find versions with a total of 18GB or 12GB RAM.
Display & Sound
The Tecno Spark 50 has a massive 6.78-inch IPS LCD screen. The catch is the resolution, which is just 720×1576. For a display this big, I’d really prefer to see Full HD. Still, the 120Hz adaptive refresh rate kind of makes up for it and keeps everything feeling super smooth when you’re scrolling around.
As for the audio, the Spark 50 uses DTS technology. That means you get a much richer and fuller sound when watching videos or listening to music compared to your average cheap speaker. Sure, it’s not exactly studio quality, but it absolutely gets the job done for some casual Netflix watching. And it’s actually got a 3.5mm headphone jack too!
Camera
On the back of the Tecno Spark 50, you’ll find a 50MP main camera with an f/1.9 aperture. It uses some AI RAW magic to keep your colors looking natural, especially when you’re shooting against the sun or taking pics at night.
Up front, there’s an 8MP selfie camera that’s perfect for video calls and casual snaps, but don’t expect a pro-level setup for vlogging. It’s a totally practical and reliable camera system for everyday life, but just keep in mind it doesn’t really compete with the big flagships.
OS & AI
The Tecno Spark 50 runs on Android 16 with the HIOS 16 interface. It’s also packed with a bunch of cool AI features. For example, it has Google’s Circle to Search, which is really handy for quickly finding info right on your screen. On top of that, it comes with AI writing tools to help you edit your texts or summarize long articles. Plus, there’s the AI Eraser 2.0 feature that lets you easily remove unwanted people from your photos.
