I took a close look at the Samsung Galaxy M17e 5G, and now I want to share all the details of my experience and review of this super interesting budget phone with you.
Design & Build

The first thing you see when unboxing the phone is the Galaxy M17e 5G itself, a Type-C cable, and a SIM ejector tool. As always, there’s no charging adapter in the box. When I first held the phone, it gave me the feeling of a quality product.
To be honest, I don’t get along with glossy, glass-backed phones that constantly attract smudges and fingerprints. That’s why I really liked the fact that the back panel and frame are made of plastic but finished with a stylish matte texture that doesn’t get dirty at all. You can get the Galaxy M17e 5G in two very attractive colors: Blitz Blue and Vibe Violet.
What I highly valued was its weight and thickness. Even though it packs a massive 6000mAh battery inside, it’s only 8.2mm thick and weighs 198 grams, which means it won’t tire your hand at all.

The plastic frame around it is built in a way that feels great in the hand. The fingerprint sensor is embedded in the power button on the side, unlocking the phone quickly and accurately. Plus, the IP54 rating gives you peace of mind against water splashes and dust.
The SIM tray is a hybrid slot. This means you can either use two SIM cards simultaneously, or if you need more storage, you can place a microSD card in the second slot instead of a second SIM to expand the memory. This option is absolutely essential for budget phones.
Display & Sound

Now let’s talk about the front panel and display. I have to admit, yes, it has a waterdrop notch which might look a bit dated. Instead, the Galaxy M17e 5G gives you a large 6.7-inch 120Hz display with HD+ resolution that feels incredibly smooth.
While it’s an LCD panel, Samsung’s color calibration delivers really good picture quality for this price range.
The screen brightness goes up to 800 nits. I personally used it under direct sunlight, and the clarity and readability were completely fine.
As for the sound, there’s only a single speaker at the bottom, which isn’t anything to write home about. But kudos to them for keeping the 3.5mm headphone jack.
Battery & Charger

If you ask me, I’d say the main selling point of the Galaxy M17e 5G is its battery. They’ve packed a 6000mAh battery that charges with a 25W charger and takes about an hour and a half to fully charge.
With light use, this battery will easily last you two days. Even if you’re a heavy user like me, it easily lasts a full day and keeps you worry-free.
Performance

Looking at the heart of this phone, we find the Mediatek Dimensity 6300 processor handling the tasks. The model I have for testing has 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage.
I didn’t notice any lag or bug during daily and normal use. Even if you’re into gaming, I should mention it can run heavy games like Call of Duty at 60FPS for you.
Camera

I always focus heavily on camera capabilities and photography, and it matters a lot to me. The back of the phone is designed to look like a dual-camera setup, but you actually get a single 50MP main camera equipped with Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). On the front, there’s an 8MP sensor for selfies.
I took a lot of photos in different lighting conditions. The exposure control and dynamic range were really balanced, and the portrait shots I took had completely natural skin tones and background blur. Low-light photos were also totally respectable and good.
For video, you can shoot in Full HD at 30fps. Thanks to EIS, your videos come out perfectly smooth without any annoying shakes.
OS & Connectivity

Now we get to what I think is one of the biggest reasons to buy a Samsung phone, the software masterpiece and updates. The Galaxy M17e 5G runs on One UI 8 based on Android 16.
The crazy part is that Samsung is offering six generations of OS updates for this budget phone! This means you’re covered for software and security for years to come, which is incredible for a phone in this price range.

On top of that, you get all the Google Gemini AI features found in Samsung’s expensive flagships right here! Google’s awesome Circle to Search feature, Knox Security, Secure Folder, and Samsung Wallet are fully available to you.

It also has another cool feature called Voice Focus. When you turn this on, it cuts out ambient background noise during calls so your voice sounds completely clear and crisp to the person on the other end.

Connectivity is also quite good. This phone supports 12 5G bands and has Dual 5G capability It also comes with Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 5, so you can’t really complain about anything in this department.
