iQOO 15 Ultra: My First Look Review

iQOO 15 Ultra: My First Look Review

The iQOO 15 Ultra is an absolute beast, but it’s definitely not for everyone. If you’re tired of fragile flagships and want something that feels more like a gaming PC than a phone, you’re in the right place.

It was released on February 06, 2026, in two colors. I’m talking a massive 7400mAh battery (yes, with a charger in the box!), the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and a screen that’s basically a pocket-sized cinema. But is it all just hype? Let’s cut through the marketing talk and see if it’s actually worth your money or just a heavy brick.

Design: A Tank from the Future

First off, let’s talk about the build. This isn’t one of those slim, feather-light phones. At 227g and 8.7mm thick, you’re definitely going to feel this in your pocket. It’s got some serious heft.

You can get the iQOO 15 Ultra in two colors: Black (2077) and Silver (2049), giving off a futuristic, sci-fi vibe.

The weirdest and maybe coolest part? The built-in shoulder triggers for gaming. Since they’re physical controls, the precision is top-notch, but they clearly signal that this is a gaming beast, not a sleek office device.

On the bright side, it’s built like a tank. With IP68 and IP69 water resistance, you don’t have to worry about dropping it in a puddle or getting caught in a sudden downpour. It’s rugged, it’s hefty, and it’s definitely not apologizing for it.

For security, it uses an ultrasonic 3D fingerprint sensor. It’s way faster and more reliable than those optical ones most phones still use.

Performance: Pure Raw Power

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, the processor used in the iQOO 15 Ultra.

This is where things get crazy. The iQOO 15 Ultra uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with a 3nm process. To be blunt: it’s a beast. I’m talking about a 4.5 million AnTuTu score.

With LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1, everything from installing massive games to moving 4K files happens in a blink. But the real ‘mad scientist’ move? The internal fan. It’s a 17mm, 59-blade mechanical fan that keeps the heat at a steady 45°C.

Battery & Charging

Most flagships give you 5000mAh and call it a day. The iQOO 15 Ultra went overboard with a 7400mAh battery. You can go hard all day and still have juice left for the next morning. It even makes the already-great battery on the base iQOO 15 look tiny by comparison.

When you do run out, the 100W wired charging is super fast, and the 40W wireless is a nice bonus. It even does reverse charging via OTG if your friend’s iPhone dies. It’s basically a power bank that happens to be a top-tier smartphone.

Display & Audio

A front-facing view of the iQOO 15 Ultra's 6.85-inch display running a high-fidelity mobile game, illustrating the clarity and color vibrancy of the 144Hz panel.

The iQOO 15 Ultra’s screen is a 6.85-inch Samsung Everest AMOLED. It’s a 2K LEAD OLED with a silky-smooth 144Hz refresh rate and a ridiculous 8000 nits peak brightness.

Realistically, you’ll never use 8000 nits unless you’re standing on the surface of the sun. However, it means HDR content looks incredible even in direct daylight. The visuals are stunning, but the sound is what completes the immersion.

As for audio, they used coaxial symmetrical dual speakers. They call it War Drum Master, which is basically marketing-speak for it’s actually loud and has real bass. It’s a win for hearing footsteps in shooters or watching movies without reaching for your headphones.

Camera: Surprisingly Not Terrible

Usually, gaming phones have cameras that feel like an afterthought, just a placeholder for the specs sheet. But with the iQOO 15 Ultra, they actually put some serious effort in.

You get a triple 50MP setup. The main Sony IMX921 sensor is solid and handles stabilization like a pro. The periscope telephoto gives you 3x optical and up to 100x digital zoom.

It uses their NICE 3.0 AI engine to clean up the processing, and it shows. Is it a Galaxy S26 Ultra or iPhone 17 Pro Max killer? Definitely not. But for a phone built to push combat limits, these cameras are way better than they have any right to be.

And finally, the 32MP selfie camera can record in 4K. It’s about time iQOO stopped living in the 1080p past!

Connectivity

iQOO clearly knows its audience. They’ve optimized the antennas so you can actually play online games on the subway without lagging out. With a 29-antenna surround setup, it doesn’t matter how you grip the phone; you won’t block the signal.

It’s packed with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and a USB 3.2 Gen1 port for fast data. Plus, with NFC support for over 330 cities, this thing is basically built to stay connected no matter where you are.

One minor catch: it’s a strictly physical dual-SIM affair with no eSIM support in sight. So, keep those plastic cards handy and don’t throw away those SIM ejector tools just yet.

OS & Longevity

iQOO 15 Ultra runs OriginOS 6 on top of Android 16. iQOO claims it’ll stay smooth for 60 months, a bold claim that I’ll believe when I see it in 2031.🧐

They’ve promised 5 major Android upgrades, which is great for longevity. The software is also packed with gaming features like match analysis and specialized recording tools for streamers.

What’s in the Box?

iQOO 15 Ultra Box Contents

Unlike most big-name flagships these days, iQOO actually gives you everything you need; No need to buy anything extra. Inside that rectangular box, you’ll find the iQOO 15 Ultra itself, charger, data cable (L-type capsule), SIM ejector tool, case, and even a cleaning brush.

So, yeah. It’s a heavy, fan-cooled beast with a massive battery. If you’re a hardcore gamer, you’ll love it. If you just want something light to browse social media, this is definitely overkill.
