OPPO K14x 5G: My First Look Review

OPPO K14x 5G: My First Look Review

The OPPO K14x 5G is trying to solve the one thing we all hate: battery anxiety. It packs a massive 6500mAh cell and a smooth 120Hz display. But are the camera and processor just as impressive? If you’re tempted to buy this phone solely for its battery life, hold on! Let’s cut through the marketing and see if the K14x is actually worth your money.

Design & Build

You can get the OPPO K14x in Prism Violet and Icy Blue. Instead of a boring flat color, the back features a geometric, diamond-cut pattern that catches the light at different angles.

Don’t let those fancy color names fool you into thinking you’re holding a rare gemstone; it’s a plastic phone through and through. The frame? Plastic. The back? You guessed it, plastic.

While that might sound cheap to some, it’s actually a massive win for the clumsy elite. Glass breaks; plastic just shrugs and says, Is that all you got? At 8.6mm thick and weighing in at 212g, this phone has some serious heft. It feels like a solid piece of tech rather than a toy, which I personally dig. It’s heavy enough to let you know it’s still in your pocket, but not so heavy that it’ll pull your pants down.

As for the IP64 rating, it’s a nice peace-of-mind feature for those “Oops, it’s raining” moments. But a word of advice: it’s water-resistant, not a submarine. If you drop the OPPO K14x in a pool, you’re not going to have a functional phone; you’re going to have a ₹15,000 (~$165) souvenir from the bottom of the pool.

Display

OPPO K14x 5G 6.75 inches display

Let’s talk about the screen on this OPPO K14x, and I’ll give you the honest truth. At 6.75 inches, it’s basically a small surfboard in your pocket, and that 120Hz refresh rate makes scrolling through your feed feel smoother than a penguin on an ice slide.

A person's hands holding the OPPO K14x 5G horizontally while playing a high-graphics action game, showcasing the slim bezels and immersive display.

However, there is a “but” the size of a skyscraper: the resolution. We’re looking at an HD+ LCD (1570 × 720). In a world where even my smart toaster seems to have a Full HD OLED screen, this feels a bit… vintage. If you’re looking for ultra-crisp pixels, you might find yourself squinting at the screen like you’re trying to read a faded grocery receipt from 1995. It’s not bad, it’s just very 2018.

But don’t throw it out the window just yet! The saving grace is the brightness. This thing hits 1125 nits, which is bright for a budget phone. It’s so bright that you could probably use it as a lighthouse signal if you ever get lost at sea. It’s fantastic for outdoor use.

OPPO also threw in a feature called GloveTouch. Whether you’re a biker or just living somewhere so cold that taking your gloves off feels like a high-stakes survival challenge, this feature is a lifesaver. You can finally text back “LOL” without risking actual frostbite.

Battery & Charging

If you are buying the OPPO K14x, you’re buying it for the 6500mAh battery. With this much juice, you could probably forget your charger at home for a two-day weekend trip and still come back with enough power to scroll through TikTok on the way home.

Just so you know, this phone’s battery capacity is even higher than giants like the Galaxy S26 Ultra! Of course, it’s apples and oranges. With that one, you’re paying for the brand and space-age tech; with this one, you’re paying for not dying. It’s like strapping a semi-truck’s fuel tank onto a family sedan.

Playing with OPPO K14x 5G

OPPO claims over 22 hours of video streaming, which is basically enough time to watch a whole cinematic universe without a panic attack.

The 45W charging is decent, but filling this beast is a marathon, not a sprint. On the bright side, the 5W reverse wired charging lets you play hero when your friend’s premium phone dies at 8:00 PM. You’re basically a walking power bank now, don’t let the fame go to your head.

Performance

MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, the processor used in the OPPO K14x 5G.

The OPPO K14x packs the MediaTek Dimensity 6300. It’s a solid and efficient 6nm chip that handles daily tasks like a champ. Just don’t expect it to run Genshin Impact on max settings unless you enjoy turning your phone into a pocket-sized space heater.

The 48-month Fluency Protection is a big promise. OPPO says the phone will not turn into a brick after a year of updates. For the price, you’re getting standard LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, which keeps things snappy enough for your daily scroll through TikTok.

Camera

The OPPO K14x packs a 50MP main camera (f/1.8) that handles your Instagram stories and daily snaps with decent clarity. The AI Eraser 2.0 is genuinely fun, perfect for deleting that one person who always manages to ruin your background.

That 2MP monochrome depth sensor is basically camera filler to make the phone look more expensive than it is. It’s like adding a spoiler to a minivan; it looks cool, but we all know it’s not doing much heavy lifting.

In 2026, a 5MP selfie camera feels like a nostalgia trip to 2015. It’ll get the job done for a quick video call, but don’t expect it to capture every single pore on your face.

A huge heads-up for the video lovers: The OPPO K14x has a bit of a split personality depending on which version you buy. If you get the 6GB RAM model, you can enjoy smooth 1080p at 60fps. But if you opt for the 4GB version, you’re capped at 30fps. Choose wisely, or your cinematic masterpieces might look more like a vintage flip-book.

OS & Connectivity

OPPO K14x 5G Theft Protection

Out of the box, the OPPO K14x 5G runs ColorOS 15 (Android 15), powered by the Trinity Engine for extra smoothness. It’s slick and even packs remote-lock theft protection, perfect for when your phone decides to go on an unapproved solo vacation.

As the name literally screams, it’s a 5G phone and covers all the basics including Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.4. Yes, it still has a 3.5mm headphone jack. You get USB Type-C with OTG support for your thumb drives. As for the side-mounted fingerprint sensor? It’s there. It works. It’s definitely not a life-changing magical experience, but at least it doesn’t have the personality of a brick.
